Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 October 2026

In short: Quran Rehal collects no personal data. It has no account or sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and no third-party code that collects data. Your reading position, bookmarks and settings stay on your device, or in your own iCloud if you use it. We cannot read any of it.

If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply, and we delete them within 24 months.

Who we are

Quran Rehal is published by NVAPPS LTD, which sells the app on the App Store. NVAPPS LTD is the controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy.

This policy covers the Quran Rehal app for iPhone Duo, iPhone and iPad, and this website.

What the app does not collect

So we do not know who you are, what you read, or how you use the app.

Data that stays on your device

Your reading position, bookmarks and settings are stored on your device. Widgets use the same data, on the same device. Search runs on your device. When you copy or share an ayah, it goes only where you send it, through your device’s own share sheet.

Deleting the app deletes this data from your device.

Prayer times. The look that follows the prayer times works them out on your device from its time zone. The app never asks for your location, and nothing about it leaves your device.

iCloud sync

Sync is optional, uses your own iCloud account, and we cannot read it. If iCloud is on for Quran Rehal, your reading position, bookmarks and settings sync between your devices through your own private iCloud database (CloudKit). Apple stores this data in your iCloud account under its own terms and privacy policy.

You can turn it off in your iCloud settings (Settings › your name › iCloud).

Purchases

Apple processes your purchase under its own terms and privacy policy. We never receive your payment details, and Apple’s sales reports to us do not identify buyers.

Content downloads

Content such as recitations, translations and Quran page fonts is downloaded from Apple (Apple-hosted asset packs), as part of its App Store service. Apple handles these downloads under its own privacy policy. We run no server that receives data from the app.

If we ever deliver content from a server of our own, we will update this policy first, before we release the app version that uses it.

Crash reports

If you choose to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple may pass us crash reports from Quran Rehal. You make this choice on your iPhone or iPad under Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers.

We receive these reports de-identified. They describe the problem, such as the device model, the system version and the code that failed, not who you are. We use them only to find and fix bugs, and we never try to identify anyone from them. Apple collects these reports under its own privacy policy and keeps them under its own retention rules. You can stop sharing at any time in the same settings.

Where a crash report counts as personal data, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the app working (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

If you email us

When you write to support@quranrehal.com or privacy@quranrehal.com, we receive your email address, your message and anything you choose to include.

We never ask about your beliefs, your health or other sensitive matters. Please include such details only if you need to. If you do, we use them only to reply, and we delete them with your message.

This website

quranrehal.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads no third-party scripts or fonts. Our web host is Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany, which runs the server this website is served from. The web server on it, which we run ourselves, keeps standard access logs: your IP address, the time of your visit, the page requested and your browser. We use these logs only to deliver the site and to keep it secure and working. We keep them only as long as needed to keep the site secure and working, then delete them. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Neither the app nor this website tracks you over time or across other sites, so both work the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.

Who receives personal data

The app itself shares no personal data with anyone. We share personal data only with the service providers that run our email and this website:

They may use the data only to provide their service to us, under contracts that require them to protect it at least as well as this policy does. We disclose personal data to authorities only when the law requires it. We never sell personal data or use it for advertising.

Apple runs the App Store, the content downloads, iCloud and crash reporting. It handles the data involved as an independent company, under its own privacy policy.

International transfers

Our web host, Hetzner Online GmbH, is based in Germany, in the EU. Our email service may process data outside your country. Where personal data leaves the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards: an adequacy decision where one applies; otherwise the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, with the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum for UK data and the equivalent safeguards for Swiss data. You can ask us for a copy of these safeguards at privacy@quranrehal.com.

How long we keep data

How to delete your data

Because we cannot read your iCloud data, only you can delete it.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us whether we hold personal data about you, get a copy of it, and ask us to correct or delete it. Write to privacy@quranrehal.com. We reply within one month, free of charge. To protect you, we may need to confirm that a request comes from you, usually by replying to the email address concerned.

EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland

Under the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, you have the right to:

Your right to object

Where we rely on legitimate interests, you can object at any time, on grounds relating to your situation. We will then stop, unless we have compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, or we need the data to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Complaints

You can complain to a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work, or where you think the problem happened. In the EU and EEA, see the list of national authorities; in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO); in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.

UK: complaining to us first. If you are in the UK, you have the right to complain to us directly. Email privacy@quranrehal.com with “Complaint” in the subject line. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it without undue delay, keep you informed, and tell you the outcome. If you are not satisfied, you can then complain to the ICO.

Türkiye

If you are in Türkiye, our KVKK aydınlatma metni (in Turkish) explains how we process your data and your rights under Article 11 of the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698.

California and other US states

This part is for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the CCPA), and for residents of other US states with similar laws.

You have the right to know what personal information we hold about you and to access it, to have it deleted or corrected, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. To use them, email privacy@quranrehal.com. We verify a request by matching it to the email address concerned, and we respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent; we may then ask for your signed permission and ask you to confirm your identity with us directly.

If you live in another US state with a consumer privacy law, you have similar rights and can use them the same way. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision. If your appeal is denied, you can contact your state attorney general.

Children

Quran Rehal is a general-audience app for readers of all ages, rated 4+ on the App Store. It collects no personal data from anyone, children included. Because nothing is collected, the data collection rules of the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) do not come into play.

If we learn that a child under 13 has emailed us, we will reply only once (if needed, asking a parent to contact us) and then delete the message and the child’s email address.

Security

We keep support email in our email service, protected by access controls, and only the people who handle support can read it. This website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect the data we hold.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new date. If the app is ever going to collect new data, or to deliver content from a server of our own, we will update this policy before the app version that does so is released.
